The distillery (pronounced Alt-a-Bane) was commissioned in 1975 to supply malt whisky for Chivas Regal. The distillery was expanded in 1989 and has a 'potential' output of 4.5million litres of alcohol.
The distillery was mothballed in 2003.
This Connoisseurs Choice bottling of Allt a Bhainne was distilled back in 1996.
Tasting Notes:
Colour – Dark Straw.
Nose – Fresh and fruity with hints of green pear and apple. Toasted malt with a subtle almond nuttiness.
Palate – Peppery initially with a sweet citrus fruit edge and milk chocolate.
Body – Light.
Finish – Long and smooth.
Cask type – Refill Sherry Hogsheads.
