An amazing fusion of flavours. The first maturation is in ex bourbon barrels, followed by transfer to charred American white oak casks (quercus alba in Latin).
This second intense maturation creates a blend of peat smoke balanced with warm, spicy vanilla notes.
The length of time this powerful stage takes varies, meaning each cask is carefully selected by hand to ensure the exact balance of flavours.
This was originally (and still is) a Travel Retail exclusive, it’s also a 1 Litre bottling.

Matured in first fill only ex-American white oak bourbon barrels.
The whisky is then recasked and left to sleep in the finest European Oak, the result in a fusion of flavours, from the medicinal peat, to the soft and spicy caramel tones of the American Wood, to the BIG rich, burnt apricot and raisin of the European Oak.
This was exclusively only available in Travel Retail, Laphroaig An Cuan Mor – Translated as ‘Big Ocean’

Laphroaig Cairdeas 30 Year Old Whisky – 2008 Release

The Laphroaig Cairdeas 30 Year Old was specially bottled in 2008 to celebrate Laphroaig’s friends worldwide. Cairdeas 30 has enjoyed a double maturation, firstly in a combination of approximately 60% Sherry and 40% ex-bourbon casks.
Before bottling, the spirit was then married together and matured for a final period in ex-bourbon casks to ensure an even richer, more complext flavour.
